The devil is in the details. Fox News made “Obama’s sinking poll numbers” its top story on Tuesday night during primary election coverage. And today, the media outlet has been forced to downplay the results of its very own poll to fit its desired narrative. Polling results showed that Obama’s approval rating and favorability was virtually unchanged since its prior month’s report.
According to the poll, 47% of voters approve of Obama’s performance, compared with 45% who disapprove. This was down from a 48-45 mark just one month earlier.
The President’s issue-specific results have also improved. The public’s approval of Obama’s handling of the economy, health care, the deficit, and Iran all showed improvement.
Perhaps most importantly, the poll showed an all time low in the favorability of the Tea Party, and the leading Republican presidential candidates.
|Favorable||Unfavorable||Can’t Say||Never Heard Of|
|The Democratic Party||48%||44||7||1|
|The Republican Party||39%||52||9|
|Tea Party Movement||30%||51||14||5|
On top of that, 58% of respondents say they “see signs the economy is improving”, compared to 40% who don’t. That was up from a 40-56 mark in January, and a low 29-68 mark in November. 44% of those polled believe Obama has made the economy better compared to 42% who think he has made it worse.
