According to a report this morning from ADP, U.S. businesses created approximately 170,000 jobs in January.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its official jobs number on the first Friday of every month, and ADP releases its data on the prior Wednesday. The count was mostly in line with economist expectations, and today’s number was largely influenced by strong service sector growth.
The ADP report does not include public sector, or government employment records. Ironically, in the face of Republican electorate saber rattling, the ADP report is usually stronger than the BLS number as the U.S. public sector is lagging private sector growth.
